Brooke McGowan
Music and photography have always been part of my life. From my mother’s polaroid camera to my first digital camera, photography been my constant, unwavering passion. Growing up, my eyes took the world in quietly. I reflected on movement, color, and emotional reaction to each moment in time and tried to capture each moment as I saw it. Music touches me in a way that I can't express... only sometimes through photos or a song here and there.
Fast-forward to 2013 - I view the world with the same raw eye. My passion for music and performing has become an integral part of my photography. After discovering a natural sense for timing and rhythm, I most enjoy capturing the work of musicians / artists / performers from all walks of life.
I've recently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, but previously worked primarily in NYC, shooting at Lucky Cheng’s Drag Restaurant and local venues, capturing the spirit of the East Village in any way possible. I have had the great fortune of meeting and working with extremely talented and grounded individuals. Each song, piece of art, and performance is unique and continuously inspirational.
